ROOM FULL OF WALTERS' SLEEPY-HEAD TOUR HITS JBU APRIL 23

Siloam Springs, Ark (April 16, 1998) — College/modern rock band Room Full of Walters will perform at John Brown University on Thursday, April 23 in the Cathedral of the Ozarks. Performances include a 10:30 a.m. Chapel service and a 7:30 p.m. concert. Both performances are free. The group is touring in support of the national release of Sleepy-head, their fourth album.

Lead singer Jamie Woodson, a 1993 JBU graduate, joined the Walters, of Wichita, Kan., just prior to the group's first record deal with a major label -- Word Records of Nashville. Word re-mastered and re-packaged the group's self-released CD Sleepy-head and began distributing it nationwide last November.

The first single from the album, "Home," peaked at #10 on the Christian rock charts in February. A second single, "Laughing at the Ground," just entered the rock charts this month. The Walters are visiting JBU on the way back from performances at Gospel Music Association Week in Nashville.

The September 1997 issue of CCM Magazine, a leading Christian music magazine, says, Sleepy-head is "as good as anything on modern rock radio right now. Period. Pick it up..." The album received rave reviews in other national music periodicals including hm magazine.

Band members are: Alan Austin - drums/vocals, Mark Scheltgen - guitar/vocals, Kurt Starks - bass, and Jamie Woodson - guitar/lead vocals. To learn more, check out the band's Web site at www.roomfullofwalters.com.
