Andrus and Moore Selected For Faculty Excellence Award

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 23, 2010) — Dave Andrus, Professor of Art and Design and Mandy Moore, Instructor of Business have been chosen to receive the John Brown University Faculty Excellence Award. They were recognized during a chapel assembly on April 22.

The selections were based on nomination letters from students and then narrowed down by a committee comprised of students and faculty. One student described Professor Moore as a rare teacher who has redefined what superior teaching skills look like. Another student said that Professor Andrus was a tour guide into the great unknown who shares wisdom and meaning.

Andrus and Moore were selected for demonstrating excellence in teaching, service to the community and their positive impact on students, colleagues and JBU.

Andrus said, “It’s an honor to just be on the faculty at JBU. To think that someone felt that I deserved to be singled out for an honor like this is a bit of a shock. A pleasant shock.”

Moore said, “I am so touched my colleagues and students wrote letters nominating me for this award. Many of the past recipients were my professors when I was a student. I hold them in such high regard and aspire to meet their standard of quality.”
