COAST Students Donate Original Works to NWA Women’s Shelter

Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 5, 2010) — The Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter (NWAWS) received 10 paintings from the John Brown University Communication and Art Students Association (COAST).

“The paintings were designed with the shelter in mind,” says Rachel Fiet, Coordinator of Public Relations at John Brown University.

COAST serves as a hub of leadership for the design community at John Brown University. The association is committed to stimulate thinking and judgment about design and aesthetics by exposing students to conferences, competitions, exhibitions, critique sessions, tutorials, and extracurricular projects. Membership in COAST involves a devotion to enhancing the academic experience as well as collaborative engagements with the COAST community.

“We strive to create a welcoming and home-like atmosphere at the shelter and having these beautiful pieces hang in our halls helps us accomplish that,” says Molly Rawn NWAWS Development Director. “Knowing that the students painted these with our clients in mind is especially heartwarming.”
