Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 18, 2010) — Brianna Swyers, a senior from Siloam Springs High School, has signed a letter of intent to cheer for John Brown University next fall.

Cheerleading is being brought back as a varsity sport at JBU beginning next fall. Prior to this, it had club sport status. “We are excited to bring back cheerleading as a sport under intercollegiate athletics next fall. With the opening of the Bill George Arena we feel the timing is perfect to have a squad that is under the direction of the athletic department”, says Robyn Daugherty, Director of Athletics at JBU.

Coach Kerri Young is the new cheer coach for John Brown University. "I am thrilled Brianna has chosen to attend JBU and be a part of our cheer squad, says Coach Young. Though she has only been cheering for a couple of years, Brianna's enthusiasm and drive for excellence make it seem as if she has been cheering all her life. She is a natural leader who will be a tremendous asset to the team."

Brianna is the daughter of Gary and Missy Swyers.
