Oklahoma City (November 2, 2010) — The JBU men’s soccer team took Oklahoma Christian into overtime on Tuesday night, but it was the OC Eagles that came out ahead defeating JBU 3-2. The loss closes out JBU’s regular season record at 10-7-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the SAC.

OC (4-12, 4-5) struck first going ahead by a goal after Tyler Brady scored off an assist from Tommy Guernsey in the 13th minute. However, JBU quickly responded when Gabriel Duarte connected with Ramon Martinez for the equalizer in the 23rd minute. Brady then turned around and booted in his second goal two minutes later to give OC the 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second half, JBU continued to attack but continued coming up empty, until freshman defender Gio Gomez scored the overtime forcing goal with 36 seconds left in regulation. Caleb Theimer picked up the assist.

After expending much energy in the second half to fight their way back, JBU quickly succumbed in the overtime period after allowing OC’s Trey Boykin to score the golden goal in the 92nd minute of action.

The loss pushes the men into a three-way tie for fourth place in the final SAC standings with Rogers State (Okla.) and Southern Nazarene (Okla.). The SAC conference bracket will be released later this week. Play is scheduled to begin on Friday with seeds 1-4 hosting first round matches.
