Women's soccer clinches second seed

Sarah Kidd scored JBU

Sarah Kidd scored JBU's golden goal on Tuesday night to give her team the 2-1 overtime win over Oklahoma Christian.

Oklahoma City (November 2, 2010) — It took extra minutes to do it, but the JBU women’s soccer team closed out the regular season with a 2-1 overtime win over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City. The wins moves the ladies to 13-3-1 overall and 9-2 in the SAC, which gives them the second seed heading into the SAC tournament this weekend.

After a scoreless first period, JBU found themselves down by a goal after allowing OC’s Angela Pete to score unassisted in the 47th minute. But JBU answered right back with a goal in the 48th when Camille Malkiewicz fought her way to a goal to tie things up.

The Lady Golden Eagles only needed a few extra minutes to take care of business after ending regulation deadlocked. In the 95th minute freshman Ashley Cochran found senior Sarah Kidd for the game winner.

The ladies now await the release of the SAC tournament bracket, which will be released later this week. As the second seed, JBU will host a first round match on Saturday. Match time is still to be determined.
