JBU NAMED TO AMERICA'S BEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGES

Siloam Springs, Ark (February 23, 1998) — John Brown University is among 87 colleges and universities that are featured in "America's Best Christian Colleges." Over 1,430 four-year institutions were surveyed to see if they met certain criteria. Those nominated for recognition in the book met all of the following requirements:

* Be an accredited four-year institution * Provide facilities for residence hall and dining services * Offer opportunities to qualified students for need-based, academic (merit) based, and athletic-based financial aid * Have had an entering freshman class in the fall of 1996 with a grade point and /or SAT/ACT score equal to or above the national average for all entering college freshman * Be affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination, or claim current or historical association with, or be governed directly by a recognized Christian denomination; or be a non-denominational or inter-denominational institution providing an educational experience incorporating, at least to some degree, basic Christian principles and beliefs into the instructional curriculum and/or social environment.
