JBU Welcomes Award-Winning Pianist Terry Lowry
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 11, 2010) - The John Brown University Music Department will host national award-winning pianist and composer Terry Lowry as part of its Lyceum Concert series on Nov. 21, 2010 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Admission is $7 and tickets will be available at the door.
Lowry’s recital program will include the world premiere of his Psalmoi, Opus 53, in addition to piano literature from the past and present, and improvisations on themes provided by the audience.
Lowry was born in Albany, Ga. in 1974. He began studying piano and composition with his father, with whom he later toured extensively, performing duo piano recitals.
Lowry received his bachelor of music degree in piano performance from Shorter College and his master of music degree in music composition from the University of Alabama. In 1994, he was added to the prestigious list of International Steinway Artists. Mr. Lowry is the Conductor and Music Director of the Carroll Symphony Orchestra, the Music Director at First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Ga. and has served as an adjunct professor of music at Shorter College and the University of West Georgia.
