Women's basketball hangs on to defeat St. Francis Indiana

Branson, Mo. (November 13, 2010) — The JBU women’s basketball team bounced back from a seven point, 58-65, loss to St. Francis of Illinois on Friday to defeat St. Francis of Indiana on Saturday 64-61. With the win, the ladies improve to 3-2 on the year.

Ashley Taylor finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead JBU. Katie Mangels added 17 points and four rebounds.

Kayla Mullins had 23 points for USF (3-1).

For the game, JBU shot 39% (24-61) from the floor and only 38% (8-21) from the three point line. Meanwhile, USF also had a tough shooting night, only hitting 31% (19-61) of their attempts.

JBU lost the rebounding battle 36-35, but managed to force 15 turnovers while committing only 13.

Up next, the ladies return home to host the Quality Inn Fall Classic next Friday and Saturday. The ladies take on Central Methodist on Friday at 8 p.m. and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) will take on Ecclesia at 6 p.m. On Saturday, JBU will take on Ecclesia at 3 p.m. with C of O taking on Central Methodist at 1 p.m.
