Little Mary Sunshine brightens up JBU’s stage April 19-22
Siloam Springs, Ark (April 11, 2001) — The JBU Music Theater Workshop will present “Little Mary Sunshine” in the Jones Recital Hall in the Cathedral of the Ozarks at John Brown University on April 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21-22 at 2:00 p.m.
Written by Rick Besoyan, this musical performance is a wonderful campy show full of forest rangers, Indians and young ladies from the Eastchester Finishing School. The heroine, Mary Potts (known as Merry Sunshine by the Kadota Indians), is a typical musical comedy leading lady, but the situations into which she gets herself are anything but what you might expect. As in silent movie melodramas, good is good, bad is bad, virtue is everything, and justice always triumphs. All this happens with a good deal of laughter and high spirits in a style reminiscent of Nelson Eddy, Jeanette McDonald, Dudley Do-Right and Penelope Pit-Stop. Come prepared for an evening of light-hearted entertainment and hearty laughs.
Tickets to this tuneful and laugh-filled saga of Colorado are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. For reservations, call the JBU box office at 524-7382.
