Women blanked by Lady Chaps

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 29, 2011) — The JBU women’s soccer team came up empty on Thursday afternoon falling 1-0 to Lubbock Christian (Texas) in their conference opener.

LCU (3-3, 1-0) scored the winning goal in the 51st minute when Stacy Ann Johnson’s shot from 25 yards sailed past several defenders before finding the back of the net.

JBU (2-4-1, 0-1) had several opportunities late, but the LCU defense was able to hold them off and allow the Lady Chaps to hang on for the win.

For the match,  JBU outshot LCU 10-9, but both teams had four attempts on goal.  LCU’s Allison Brinson picked up the shutout with four saves.  JBU keeper Faith Thurman had three saves.

Up next, JBU faces Wayland Baptist (Texas) at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
