‘European Impressions’ to Open In JBU Art Gallery
Siloam Springs, Arkansas (October 4, 2011) — The John Brown University Art Gallery will welcome the artwork of German born artist and illustrator Peter Pohle in the upcoming exhibit titled “European Impressions.” The show will open with a reception on Oct. 6 from 6:00-7:30 p.m., and will feature a gallery talk by the artist at 6:30. The exhibit will be on display from Oct 7 - Nov. 4. The gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m.-4 p.m. or by special arrangement.
“Peter is one of those gifted artists who is a master in several media, but I believe there is something truly extraordinary about his oil and oil pastel paintings,” said Charles Peer, director of John Brown University’s Visual Arts Department’s gallery. “Since many of the pieces were done “plein-air” (painted on location) I believe the viewer will be amazed at the beauty Peter has captured through that rapid painting process.”
Pohle was born in Germany and graduated from the art academy of Berlin. He studied painting at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif. and received his Masters of Fine Art in Illustration from Syracuse University, N.Y. Pohle has worked as a freelance illustrator and artist for Dayspring Greeting Cards and Hallmark Cards and has taught art both at John Brown University and Savannah College of Art & Design. Pohle currently teaches digital art and painting at JBU.
