“Illuminated Lessons: Artwork by Carey Roberson" Now in Gallery
Siloam Springs, Arkansas (November 1, 2011) - The artwork of mixed media artist Carey Roberson is now on display in the John Brown University Art Gallery. The exhibit titled “Illuminated Lessons” will be on display from Nov. 11 through Dec. 13.
“We are excited to present the artwork of Carey Roberson on the JBU campus,” said Charles Peer, director of the JBU Visual Arts Department gallery. “He is a master of manipulating familiar imagery to create a world that we recognize yet are slightly uncomfortable in. He combines a number of media and processes that our students work in, so it is wonderful to see how he brings them together to create these very creative and engaging pieces.”
Roberson received his MFA in Photography from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA in 1998 and has been a professor of photography at the University of Arkansas Little Rock since 2002. Roberson’s work has been featured in solo, group and juried exhibitions nationally, and he has earned awards for his photographic, studio and graphic art throughout the region. He has also contributed work to multiple publications including CMYK Magazine.
The gallery is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m.-4 p.m. or by special arrangement. The gallery will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Nov. 23-27.
The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. For further information you may contact the JBU Department of Visual Arts at 479-238-8561.
