Flying Queens fly over Lady Eagles
Plainview, Texas (January 19, 2012) — The JBU women’s basketball team fell to 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after falling 65-51 to Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Thursday night in Plainview.
JBU never really got things rolling and ended up trailing at the half by 19, 36-17.
In the second period, WBU (6-10, 4-6) continued to pour it on and led by as many as 25, 55-30 at the 10:08 mark.
JBU fought back, however, and managed to come within 11, 60-49, after a three-point make from junior Anna Parish with less than a minute to play. But time would run out on the Lady Eagles destroying their chances for a comeback.
Parish led JBU with 13 points and four rebounds. She was the only JBU player in double digits.
For WBU, Erika Raymond dropped in 17 points, while Alex Williams added 10.
Overall, the Lady Eagles struggled from the floor only knocking down 30.2 percent (16-of-53), while giving up 43.3 percent (26-of-60) to the Flying Queens.
Up next, JBU travels to No. 9 Lubbock Christian for a 1 p.m. Saturday matchup.
