Arkansas unveils "two bits"
(August 26, 2003) — (Murfreesboro-AP) -- Arkansans will get their first look at the Arkansas quarter on October 28th. Governor Mike Huckabee and officials from the U.S. Mint plan to unveil the quarter in a ceremony at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro. The Arkansas quarter will be the 25th quarter released in the U-S Mint's state quarter series and will be the last state quarter released in 2003. The quarter features a diamond, a duck, blades of rice and pine trees. Arkansas is the only state with an active diamond mine where visitors can mine their own diamonds. Through the years, visitors have unearthed numerous large diamonds.
