Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 8, 2003) - With 1,427 digs and counting, senior Jairin Schrader established a new John Brown University record. The old record of 1,409 was set by Melody Murray during her career for the Golden Eagles from 1997-2000. Schrader has been averaging 3.35 digs per game this season. During last week’s 3-0 run by JBU, Schrader collected 71 digs.
Close on Schrader’s heels is senior Kemi Rogers with a career total of 1,409 digs, which places her in a tie for second on the all time list. Rogers is currently averaging 3.25 digs per game and contributed to her total with 50 digs last week.
“Both Jairin and Kemi are great defensive players who are keys to our success. They read the hitters well, which puts them in a great position to dig. This is a great honor for both of them,” said Coach Robyn Gordon.
