And the dead shall vote...

(October 23, 2003) — (Little Rock-AP) -- A lawyer with the civil rights division in the federal Justice Department met yesterday with the Pulaski County clerk's office. They discussed problems with the county's voter-registration database. After the meeting, county officials said only that the meeting went well. The Justice Department won't comment on the investigation or when it might release its findings. The fact-finding meetings with county and state officials this week followed widespread confusion in the county's November election. Also, a county grand jury report this spring said the voter rolls were inaccurate. In some cases, dead people were regstered to vote. Justice Department officials also plan to meet with the company that supplies the state's voter registration software.
