JBU WOMEN SUFFER 2ND SAC LOSS
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 22, 2003) — John Brown University opened the scoring early on a goal by sophomore Katie Lawson with only 4 minutes gone in the game, but that ended the scoring by the Golden Eagles as the Stars of Oklahoma City stiffened on defense and scored 3 goals of their own in the first half to take a 3-1 lead and final victory margin. The Oklahoma City goals came at 12:36, 9:30 and 5:49 minute marks of the first half on shots by Karen Moore, and Mindy Walker.
Frosh Amy Menegaz collected 7 saves at the goalkeeper position for JBU.
“We didn’t keep the intensity needed to stay in the game today,” stated Coach Joe Thoma following the loss. “Our strong start with the early score was not maintained and we let them get too far ahead for the way we were playing”
The loss drops JBU to 4-2 and into 3rd place in the Sooner Athletic Conference while Oklahoma City maintains their conference lead at 4-0-1. The Golden Eagles are 10-5 for the season and will play Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia on Saturday at noon.
