(November 12, 2003) - (Centerton-AP) -- Some residents in Centerton are squawking about chicken houses they believe a poultry farm plans to build near their homes. But they've found there is no state law requiring a minimum distance between chicken operations and residential homes. Some cities, like Bentonville and Rogers, have setback rules. Doris and Les Karlin say they may have to sue their neighbor - Peterson Farms Incorporated - after they have been given the runaround by state agencies. But a company official said the company doesn't own chicken houses. The Karlins say they hope their dilemma will spur the need for a state law.
