Colorado Soccer Player Inks with JBU
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 13, 2003) — Glen Goodner, a goalkeeper from Chatfield High School of Littleton, Colorado, has signed a letter of intent to attend John Brown University and play soccer. Goodner’s high school team just ended their season with a 3-2 loss in the state championship game. With the high school season completed, Goodner is now playing for his club team, the Colorado Rush. The club team will be playing in the U17 National Team Tournament in Bradenton, Florida from December 4-7 and then again December 27-30 in Orlando for the Disney Showcase. Both these tournaments bring in the top young soccer talent in the country for competition.
As a high school soccer player, Goodner was named as his team’s Most Valuable Player on 2 different occasions, was the team captain for three years, played on two state championship teams, made the 1st Team All-Conference as a senior, and was listed as the top goalkeeper in Colorado. Not only is he an outstanding athlete, but Goodner also excels off the field in areas such as leadership where he is a member of the Chatfield Senior High Leadership Team and also the Student Leadership Team at Deer Creek Church. Goodner also serves as a freshman mentor at his high school.
“We are excited to have a young man of this quality,” stated Coach Bob Gustavson. “I look forward to having Glen work with our present goalkeeper, Pablo Fernandez, as he becomes accustomed to collegiate soccer. Glen has a good background in both high school and club soccer and this should make it easier for him to make the adjustment to college play.”
Goodner is the son of Jeff and Terri Goodner of Littleton, Colorado.
