JBU Women's Basketball Victorious over Rhema Bible College
Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 2, 2003) — The John Brown University Golden Eagles fought off a sluggish first half to defeat Rhema Bible 77-37 in non-conference action on Tuesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In a game where JBU never trailed and everyone saw at least 4 and half minutes of playing time, the Golden Eagles were able to come away with the easy victory. At times the play was inconsistent during the first half, which may be due to the short break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Sophomore Kendra McCormick led all scorers with 14 points and also pulled down 7 offensive and 2 defensive rebounds. Sophomore Lesli Fanning was second in scoring with 9 points. JBU’s 14 steals kept the home team off balance all night.
“It was nice to get a game under our belts before we start a tough non-conference schedule during the next two weeks. I felt at times we played real well and then other times we played with some inconsistency that led to several scoring droughts,” commented Coach Jeff Soderquist following the victory.
JBU moves to 8-1 on the season and will be at home Thursday night when they host NCAA Division II Missouri Southern University, currently 4-0, in a 7:30 tip-off.
