Huckabee to announce new chief justice

(December 4, 2003) — (Little Rock-AP) -- Governor Huckabee has called an afternoon news conference to name a new Arkansas chief justice. W-H "Dub" Arnold announced Monday that he would resign effective January first. Huckabee's replacement will serve through the end of next year. A new chief justice will be elected in the November 2004 general election to serve out the four years remaining on Arnold's term. Arnold was elected in 1996 to fill out the remaining four years of the term of former Chief Justice Jack Holt Junior, who retired in 1995.
