JBU DEFEATS LYON COLLEGE

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 6, 2003) — John Brown University scored 50 points in the second half to easily defeat Lyon College Saturday afternoon 79-41 at John Brown University. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and would never look back taking a 29-15 score into halftime. Sophomore Kendra McCormick converted 9 of 11 shots and was a perfect 3 of 3 from the three-point arc to lead all scorers with 24 points. Freshman Ashley Wettengel added 11 points and Freshman Jordyn West pitched in 10. As a team John Brown shot 50 percent from behind the 3-point line by far their best effort this year.

“It was good to see us bounce back after Thursday’s loss,” stated Coach Jeff Soderquist.

“I was afraid that we might come out a little flat and struggle offensively, but we were able to get some easy baskets in transition in the second half, and we started hitting our three pointers.”

John Brown will be on the road Tuesday when they will take on Hendrix College in Conway. The Golden Eagles move to 9-2 for the season and will have one more home game next Saturday when they will host Columbia College out of Columbia Missouri.
