Pieces of Hallmark Art Collection Now in JBU Art Gallery

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 8, 2009) – Selections from the Hallmark Art Collection is the current exhibit in the JBU Art Gallery. “25 Ways to Make a Print” features the work of 25 different artists. The exhibit will run through Friday, Nov 6.

“The Hallmark Collection is one of the largest and most impressive collections of contemporary fine art prints in America containing over 3,000 works of art,” said Charles Peer, Department of Visual Arts Gallery Director. “We are very honored that they agreed to curate this exhibit of prints exclusively for John Brown University and thrilled to be able to provide the community the rare opportunity to view work of this caliber.”

Among the artists displayed are modern masters Jim Dine, Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Sol Lewitt, Cy Twombly, Howard Hodgkin, Ron Adams and Judy Pfaff as well as cutting-edge artists Benjamin Edwards, Ryan McGinness and Julie Mehretu.

This exhibition of postwar and contemporary art showcases the wide array of printmaking techniques in use today. While representing traditional processes such as etching and lithography, which continue to be used inventively by recent generations, this selection includes work exploring new methods and materials, as well.

“We welcome both small and large groups to the gallery and are happy to make special arrangements to view the exhibits whenever possible,” said Peer.

The JBU Art Gallery is located in JBU’s art building on the main campus in Siloam Springs. Normal gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. All gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
